I know it’s kind of hard to start thinking about the first day of the new school year, but it will be here before you realize it. It’s been a long time since my children were in school, but I still remember the chaos…buying school supplies, new school clothes and shoes, etc. Like I stated before, I never thought about meal planning back then. That’s why I think summer (at least the month before) is the best time to start thinking about your family’s meals for the first couple of months of the new school year.
I find that slow cookers are the best. You just put everything in, set the timer, and then go about your “business”. The hardest part of meal planning is trying to figure out what meals to prepare that your family would eat.
In this post I’m going to give you some ideas. You can find the recipes under my “Recipe” tab at the top of this page.
Tex-Mex Mac & Cheese Skillet
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Tex-Mex-Style Green Salad
Slow Cooker Burrito Bowls
Chicken Taco Salad
Slow-Cooker Pork Carnitas
Teriyaki Salmon Stir Fry
Slow-Cooked Onion Bacon Sloppy Joes
Sweet Potato Fries
Rustic Chicken Soup
Garden Salad with French or Ranch Dressing
With these recipes, you can have about two weeks’ worth of meals ready in your freezer. All you’ll have to do is take one out the day before (this is the step that I always seem to forget, ha ha) so it will have a chance to thaw out enough to put into your slow cooker.
